Kalter Hund.JPG

This is a very German Holiday tradition. A no-bake easy yet rich and chocolaty treat. Butter cookies - it is best if you take the ones from Leibniz. I found them at our local Harris Teeter store. Those cookies are layered in a loaf pan with chocolate ganache. Almost like a butter-cookie-chocolate-lasagna...

What you need for 1 loaf pan

Step by step:

Line the loaf pan with parchment paper. Melt the chocolate with the butter in a double boiler until smooth. Pour some of the ganache in the loaf pan to cover the bottom. Set cookies next to each other, leave a little room. Pour more of the ganache over the cookies. Add another cookie layer. Continue until cookies and ganache have been used. Finish with a layer of chocolate.

Put in the fridge for a few hours - or overnight - to let set. Take the Kalte Hund our of the loaf pan and set on a large plate or cutting board. Carefully cut into about 1 inch thick slices.

Enjoy!

Keep in the fridge.
