What's new with HappyGermanChef

Welcome back! I took some time off from cooking this past view days. But there was still some yummy food. We went on a great road trip to America's beer capital - Asheville, NC.

Asheville was first named Beer City USA in 2009 and has swept the competition almost every year since. It was great time spent with family. We checked out Highland Brewing, Sierra Nevada, Wedge Brewing Company, New Belgium, and Wicked Weed Brewery - all are amazing and definitely worth a shot!

Of course, we did have to try some yummy BBQ! 12 Bones is a hit. They are closed Saturday's and Sunday's. When they are open the rest of the week from 11am - 6pm, then there is always a line. Because it is so good. We cut the line by ordering carry out and went next door to Wedge Brewing Company. The staff at 12 Bones is so nice and just brings your food to your table at Wedge. So, enjoy a great BBQ and have a pint - Prost!

Back the house and enjoying a walk in the mountains we met someone very special - a big live black bear coming out of the woods, walking down the street. That was something special., everyone incl. the bear got startled for a moment.

We just did a 180 and walked straight back to house.

There are some special news I want to share with y'all. Today I got the permit to sell homemade foods at the German Festival in Timonium on July 14 & 15.

Get the chance to meet me in person, try some amazing homemade baked goodies like Pretzel Rolls, Baumkuchen (tree cake), Chocolate loaf cake, Marble loaf cake, Nut cake. All made in

the Happy German Chef kitchen.

So, come on out and dance to music provided by local German bands. Enjoy traditional folk dancing and choral singing. Lift your Bier mug and join in the singing of “Ein Prosit” as you toast to der Gemütlichkeit!
